China’s First “Video” Cloud Scheme Appearing on the Broadcasting Exhibition and Promoting the Process of Triple Play
2011-3-23 17:22:00 On March 23, “2011 China Cable Broadcasting Network Exhibition” (CCBN) was officially opened at the Beijing International Exhibition Center. As the leading service provider of China’s advanced information technology products and the precedent solutions, the “video” cloud computing independently developed by Inspur appears first, relying on its distinctive application of integrated functions of digital TV, interactive TV, Internet TV and three-screen interaction, attracted the attention of many participants. The “video” cloud computing solutions exhibited by Inspur this time provide a complete solution including high-end server, mass storage, cloud infrastructure, video cloud application, and video terminal high-definition two-way set-top box. It constructed a complete application of triple play by the combination of “cloud” and “end”. A variety of innovative functions of this video cloud computing solutions takes the lead even in the international technology field. First, it constructed the video cloud using the cloud computing, and integrating the audio-video programs of interactive TV, time-shifted TV, Internet TV and dozens of applications of television newspapers with the content of the mainstream sites of the People’s Daily, Xinhua, and CCTV, guaranteeing the rich content and timely updating; secondly, with the support of Inspur video cloud, as a cloud device, the set-top box enriched the content and the business application by access to the cloud service, and at the same time reducing the configuration and cost of the set-top box itself. At the site of the exhibition, Inspur showed the innovative application of a number of products to the visitors one by one. It is reported that Inspur “video” cloud computing solutions have gained mass market application and been widely recognized. With this product, Jinan broadcasting system successfully completed the migration of high definition television of the 600,000 urban cable subscribers, and Jinan has thus become the first city which completed the overall transformation of the high-definition two-way set-top box. This typical application has realized three innovations at home: first, it realized the overall shift of the high-definition interactive digital television, viewing effect from SD to HD; secondly, it realized the application of large-scale, commercial television, computers, three-screen interaction of mobile phones, and the shifting watch; third, it made it possible to watch the programs on CNTV (China Network Television) by the use of TV, and changed the mode of watching only by computers, thus the users can watch the films and television programs on CNTV. It also created a new profit model for the CNTV, in other words, Inspur “video” cloud computing solution truly realized the transformation from “watching TV” to “using TV”. The satisfaction rate of the overall conversion of Jinan digital television remains over 98%, and the complaint rate below 1%, due to the advanced technology, comprehensive preparation and good organization. In 2010, Inspur launched its cloud computing strategy, and stressed on the development of industrial cloud. The Inspur “video” cloud computing solutions is an important application and implementation of the Inspur cloud computing strategy in the broadcasting industry. Thanks to the advanced comprehensive strength of the software and hardware, Inspur first put forward the complete video solutions at home based on its own brand products. Relying on the state key laboratory, Inspur has undertaken the high-end fault-tolerant server successively, and the mass storage, 863 major projects of two countries, making Inspur the only independent brand mastering the cloud computing core equipment. It can be expected that the launch of Inspur “video” cloud computing will drive the formation of the global technology of triple play and the industry standards, playing an important role in jointly improving the competitiveness of China’s cultural industry and soft power, and speeding up the process of digital video and television.
