With the industry development, price decline and accumulation of relevant techniques of gene sequencing, the sequencing technique becomes popularized from labs to clinical medicine, and the concept of precision medicine started. Next-generation sequencing is a typical HPC application, because it generates massive raw data, takes long time to perform computations, and require many storage and computational resources. However, the complex requirements presented to traditional supercomputer platforms are quite high and gene data analysis pipelines are too sophisticated. This makes it very difficult for a sequencing technician, and clinicians to be proficient for the complete process of rapid data analysis. To address this problem, Inspur launched the hardware-software integrated solution appliance Gene-Engine.
