Inspur i48 is a fully modular server, optimized for next generation high-density data center applications, which support up to eight computing optimized nodes (NS5488M5), four balanced nodes (NS5484M5) and two storage optimized nodes (NS5482M5). Different nodes can be mixed during deployment according to actual requirements. Any of the i48 nodes can be connected to the specially designed storage expansion module to extend to 36*3.5”hard drive. The computing nodes are separated from each other and each node is connected to the enclosure through the mid-backplane. The shared design of PDU and fan allow Inspur i48 to optimize space utilization and energy efficiency. In a limited space of 4u, i48 achieves perfect functionalities of: high-density, high-efficiency, high-reliability, and intelligence. Its excellent scalability makes it perfectly suitable for virtualization infrastructures, HPC and cloud platforms.
High-Scalability, Convenient Management
i48 is a fully modular designed system which includes multiple modules such as enclosure, nodes, front window extension, rear I/O module, management and network module. By combining different module groups on demand, the server easily achieves fast IT infrastructure customization facing modern data centers. Its unified architecture and flexible design allows for smooth extension from small to big data center, saving the initial investment on infrastructure.
Flexible Combination of Computing and Storage Resource: To accommodate multiple workloads, each node can support 12, 36, 48, 72 Large Form Factor (LFF) hard drive supporting NVMe and NVDIMM to achieve required storage plan.
Versatile PCIe Scalability: The front window module accommodates front hard drive and PCIe slots, which support multi-network extension and high IOPS perfectly; while the rear single hot-swap PCIe extension module enhances the node performance.
Intelligent and resilient management: i48 supports unified CMC external management module which is connected with each node BMC to achieve remote management of nodes and shared modules such as enclosure, fan, and PSU. It supports double redundant CMC and enclosure-crossing. Furthermore, a TSW internal management module, which is optional, can be connected with node board 1G port as 2*10GbE optical port+ 1GbE Rj45 port are available to achieve massive management application network.
High Computing Density: i48 supports up to 16* 165W CPUs, 32 NVMe hard drives, and also Intel ® Virtual RAID on Chip Technology which can implement NVMe RAID.
High Storage Density: i48 supports up to 864 TB mass storage system and leverages two RAID Card in order to provide outstanding performance.
Up to 6 PCIe slots in 1 node: Provides a variety of network interface options in order to improve the flexibility of network structure for various applications.
Hardware System adopt NUMA-Balanced Design: The PCIe expansions are configured in a balanced mode under 2 CPUs to achieve extreme optimization of application performance.
i48 power supply and heat dissipation system uses sharedredundant techniques, through Inspur’s unique intelligent control technology with an advanced air cooling system to achieve the best working environment, and also guarantee the system energy efficiency and stable operation.
The Multi-nodes andmodular design adopted by i48 help it to easily achieve the integration of 8 node, with a deployment efficiency increased by 5 times over that of traditional servers, which absolutely fulfils the rapid delivery demands of large-scale data center.
The server adopts Pre-maintainability, which is suitable for cold and hot channel isolation in high-density data centers. Most operation and maintenance operations do not need to be conducted in the hot channels, which greatly improves the operating comfort of the maintainers.
The unique design of hard drive drawer and the high-standard slide rail reinforcement technology enable i48 to support 72 LFF hard drives. Every group of 36 hard drives are deployed in a separate bin, and connected with the power supply and hard drive controller through the tank chain, which can guarantee operation stability when the bin is pulled out independently.
It supports hot-swap maintenance without dragging out the whole server, and saves server room space by getting rid of rear cable management arm. This unique technology greatly improves the maintainability, reduces disk resonance effect, optimizes the cooling effect of the whole machine, and provides the optimal choice for mass storage application scenarios.
