China Unicom Cloud Data Co., Ltd.
China Unicom Cloud Data Co., Ltd. (CUCC) is the backbone of China Unicom's development of cloud data operations. It is responsible for implementing the centralized and unified management of China Unicom's cloud computing operations, as well as the integrated management of its internet data center (IDC) operations. CUCC relies on China Unicom's strong communication network capabilities, first-class infrastructure resources, high-quality customer base, and excellent brand reputation to build and support IDC, cloud computing, and IT infrastructures for customers in the internet, government, education, finance, and logistics fields.
Various industries are gearing up for the upcoming Cloud 2.0 era. China Unicom, one of three major telecom operators in the country, aims to use cloud computing as an important strategy in its restructuring and development. The development of cloud computing technologies is crucial for China Unicom's business, and the company is planning to more than double the size of the existing infrastructure for its data centers and increase its coverage across the country. There are also plans to develop cloud systems for the e-administration, agricultural, educational, medical, financial, environmental protection, and tourism fields, as well as to provide a comprehensive "network + platform + product + applications" cloud computing service.
China Unicom's flourishing business in recent years has led to the continuous growth of its cloud computing and big data operations. In order to enhance the development of its cloud computing operations, China Unicom has seized the opportunity to establish a next-generation green data center by constructing a novel content delivery network (CDN) platform and launching the WO+ platform. Consequently, the comprehensive "WO+" cloud resource and the unified "integrated cloud network" platform provide automated, advanced, secure, and controllable capabilities for China Unicom's cloud computing operations.
Requirements and challenges
System building requirements
Establishment of an ultimate cloud computing infrastructure platform: The development of cloud computing must be based on the establishment of a stable infrastructure platform.
Inspur provided two thousand units of its flagship NF5280M4 dual-path servers and one hundred units of its NF5460M4 storage servers to assist China Unicom in its establishment of an ultimate cloud computing infrastructure platform.
Efficient and stable infrastructure platform: A platform that provides reliability for the development of cloud computing operations.
Significantly reduced data center energy consumption: The platform saves electricity costs and reduces the TCO of the data center.
