Hybrid Flash Storage AS5800G2

Inspur AS5800G2 is a mid-end hybrid flash storage system for medium/large-sized enterprises and provides both SAN and NAS. With the storage operating system especially developed for cloud computing and big data, rich software features, and industry-leading hardware platform, AS5500G5 satisfies the data storage and disaster recovery requirement of various applications, such as medium/large-sized OLTP/OLAP databases, virtualization and file sharing. Key Features

Unified storage

  1. Unified SAN + NAS: Structured and unstructured data in the same storage system. That is, one storage support both block-level and file-level services. This helps to simplify the data center architecture, reduce operation and maintenance costs, and respond to different business needs.
  2. Protocol convergence: Support iSCSI, FC, NFS, CIFS, HTTP, FTP and other protocols to meet the storage requirements of different applications, including database, file sharing, cloud computing. Use IPv4/IPv6 for storage access, out-of-band management, remote replication and other operations.
  3. Unified platform: The whole series (high-end storage AS18000G2, AS5000G2, AS2000G2, and all-flash storage G2-F) adopts Inspur G2 storage platform that is intelligent, agile, open and converged.

Intelligent software

  1. Intelligent thin-provisioning: Physical space no longer limits resource allocation. Support on-demand allocation to reduce early-stage investment and improve the utilization rate of storage resources. Full-capacity thin-provisioning allows over-allocation of the storage and the granularity level is adjustable (32k, 64k, 128k, 256k). It supports the creation of a single volume of up to 256TB. No additional license is required for subsequent expansion.
  2. Intelligent cache acceleration: Support SSD cache to meet the requirements of different applications, improve overall storage performance, and eliminate performance bottlenecks in complex application environments.  Support to configure one SSD for cache acceleration.
  3. Intelligent local replication: Three local data protection mechanisms: clone, snapshot, backup. The combination can meet the needs of application testing, development, analysis, backup, etc. It effectively saves storage space and reduces investment costs.
  4. Intelligent volume mirroring: By using volume mirroring, a volume can have two copies. Uninterrupted application IO access when a copy is damaged.
  5. Intelligent tiering: Four tiers. Hotspot data can be migrated online between different storages to optimized storage cost and performance, and improve customers’ ROI.
  6. Intelligent QoS: Dynamic management of volume read/write based on the IO requirement of each application. On-demand resource allocation satisfies the need of different applications.
  7. Intelligent online deduplication and compression: Industry-leading time-based variable length real-time online hardware deduplication and compression. The algorithm brings higher data reduction ratio without sacrificing the storage performance. An independent hardware compression card is configured. A license is provided to enable full-capacity deduplication and compression, no license purchase is required for subsequent expansion.
  8. Intelligent heterogeneous virtualization: Allow to take over third-party storage resources. After taking over the heterogeneous storage, use it as a RAID resource pool of the storage, and the resource pool can be divided into multiple volumes to provide storage services to the host.  This is to form a unified virtual resource pool. Data protection, data migration between storages and other services are provided.
  9. Intelligent disaster recovery replication: Three disaster recovery replication mechanisms: sync, async (interval≤2s), and async periodic. Support IP or FC-based replication between G2 storages. Replication modes include point-to-multipoint replication, multipoint-to-point replication (≤128), multi-hop replication, etc. Thus, meet different RTO and RPO needs, protect business continuity, and support three data centers with two variants.
  10. Intelligent storage active-active: Inspur G2 active storage provides an active-active multi-data center topology to achieve RTO=0 and RPO=0, zero data loss, and uninterrupted business. No additional gateway is required to achieve SAN and NAS active-active.
  11. Intelligent cloud tiering (unique in the industry): The unique hybrid cloud storage infrastructure supports cache, disaster recovery, backup in the cloud environment. Support to directly backup snapshots to secondary storage or cloud storage, and to restore snapshots on secondary storage or cloud storage to original disk arrays or other disk arrays. Support cloud backup or restore without purchasing any backup software. Thus, reduce backup complexity and effectively protect data security. Combine the cost-effective and highly-scalable cloud storage with the local data center architecture, and make sure seamless flow of data between the local data center and the public cloud.
  12. Intelligent management software: Inspur G2 active storage provides an intelligent management software for unified management of the G2 series. Also, an intelligent maintenance management system is built-in to reduce related costs and improve efficiency.
  13. Intelligent API: Provide APIs and custom solutions for key sectors. Use simplified management tools to monitor, manage and maintain Inspur G2 storage.
  14. Intelligent data destruction: One-click to destruct invalid data and the operation is irreversible, protecting confidential data.
  15. Intelligent data integrity: T10-PI provides end-to-end (host-to-hard drive) data protection. Avoid data damage due to media damage.
  16. Intelligent RAID: Traditional RAID (TRAID) or/and intelligent RAID (InRAID). Two hot spare methods: hot spare disk and hot spare space. Support Online RAID level migration and RAID-DP protection for single-disk or double-disk failures. Triple-Parity RAID is enabled to protect against three-disk failure. This mechanism ensures zero data loss. Also, multi-drive recovery helps accelerate recovery speed and guarantees performance during recovery.
  17. Intelligent performance monitor: Support historical performance statistics (custom report) and real-time performance monitoring and analysis. One software can monitor storages of different types.
  18. Intelligent multi-tenant: Hardware resource isolation according to different permissions. User-based hardware resource allocation and the same resource pool allows different permissions.
  19. Intelligent file services: Support NAS. Block-level and file-level services in the same storage, without adding any external NAS gateway.

Advanced architecture

  1. Active-Active architecture: Adopt the industry-leading Active-Active storage architecture, in which AS5800G2 uses a hardware architecture design that separates disks and controllers. Thus, achieve load balancing between controllers, eliminate performance bottlenecks, improve system availability, and ensure business continuity.
  2. Scale-Out architecture: Inspur G2 mid/high-end hybrid flash storage supports online horizontal expansion, up to 16 controllers, and TB-level caches, enabling customers’ storage resources to grow linearly to meet the changing business needs.
  3. Storage high availability: Inspur G2 mid/high-end hybrid flash storage adopts a fully redundant architecture, fully modular, redundant cache and PSU fans, and active-active controller design. Key components have no single point of failure. Support online hardware expansion, online firmware upgrade, online system maintenance, and abnormal power failure data protection.
  4. High scalability: Support up to 16,800 hard drives and a maximum system cache of 8TB. The storage can be horizontally expanded to 16 controllers to provide PB-level storage capacity.
